GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A suspect in a hit and run crash was arrested near North Greenville Elementary School.
Just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, dispatch received a report of a hit and run crash in the area of State Highway 76 and State Highway 15 in the village of Greenville.
One of the involved vehicles drove away from the scene.
The vehicle was seen pulling into an area around North Greenville Elementary School. The driver parked the vehicle and got out and ran around the back of the school into a wooded area.
As a precaution, the school was notified and went into a lockdown to ensure the safety of the students and staff.
Officers from multiple agencies responded to the area and used a drone and K9 resources to track the suspect.
At 11:39 a.m., the suspect, a 27-year-old Hortonville man, was taken into custody close to a nearby residence.
The investigation is ongoing.
