GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) โ More than 300 volunteers are needed for a day of environmental stewardship in Green Bay.
The city of Green Bay announced the details of its AmeriCorps Earth Day and Arbor Day events at a news conference Monday.
The event is set for Tuesday, April 22, just days before the city hosts the NFL Draft.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., volunteers will contribute to various conservation efforts, including tree planting, trail system improvements, invasive species removal, habitat restoration and park clean-up throughout the city and surrounding areas.
โOne of the things that I oftentimes hear about from our visitors, especially when theyโre here for a Packer game, is how clean the community is and also how welcoming things are. So weโre combining a couple of those impressions to really beautify the community just a couple days before the draft is in the city of Green Bay,โ said Mayor Eric Genrich.
Volunteers are required to pre-register for the job and location they would like to have with an online form. Parking will be available at the adjacent Bay Beach Amusement Park to accommodate the large number of expected participants.
The volunteer cap is set for 325 on April 22. If a volunteer is under the age of 18, they will need parental approval.
